Looming Constitutional Crisis

The President is moving toward the firing of the Special Counsel. This action will make the members of the Republican Party, finally, have to decide if they are cowards or patriots. Unfortunately, I believe I know which decision they will make; and I desperately hope that I am wrong.

The American Taliban

It is an inverse ratio in all of the Religions of the Book:   The more that you hate, the more that you condemn, the more that you despise others – the further away you are from Yahweh, God, Allah.   While we could have this discussion based upon any of the 3 primary Religions of the Book; for this discussion, we will focus on Christianity.   James 2:18 – But someone will say, "You have faith; I have deeds."   Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds.   Matthew 7:12 – So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.   (New International Version)   It is by this authority that I condemn these 'Christians' who hate, who condemn, and who despise others as a political act – and it is by this authority that I publicly question their faith; and openly declare them to be false Christians. Lately, I have been thinking of the Republican Candidate for Presiden...

Our Cult of Ignorance

A significant percentage of our people in the U.S. believe that all opinions are equal, have equal value, should be equally considered, and deserve to be heard.   That is absolute bullshit.   The notion that one person's ignorance is just as good as another person's knowledge is the fuel of ignorance that is driving our political debates and establishing what passes for our new cultural norms in the U.S.   As the late, great, Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan repeatedly said — 'You are entitled to your opinion.   But you are not entitled to your own facts.'   Now, ... we have a major news organization, Fox ‘News’, and a major political party, our own Republican Party, that just makes up their own 'facts' to support whatever is their position of the day.   This practice, and the tolerance of this practice by the rest of us in the U.S. who are still sentient, makes us all, collectively, more ignorant and stupid by the day.   It also preconditions our p...

Reputations and President Trump

I was wrong about General Kelly. I thought that he would be a moderating influence on this President; but, when the layers of his character have been pulled back since he became Chief of Staff, what you see is an incredibly small and bigoted individual. None of those who chose to join this administration will survive that experience with their reputation and their character intact. Ask the first Press Secretary how that feels; feeling that he was compelled to lie during his first Press Conference. https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/john-kelly-daca_us_5a79e55ae4b0d0ef3c09d047?utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=__Politics__020618&utm_content=__Politics__020618+Version+A+CID_d57113e53ffcd84636b40615fb87425d&utm_source=Email+marketing+software&utm_term=READ+MORE&ncid=newsltushpmgnews__Politics__020618
